I was listening to a message from
one of my favorite church’s NewSpring Community Church in Anderson, SC last
week as I was moving out of my apartment. The student minister Brad Cooper was
talking about being a follower of Christ, that it required that our lives look
different from the world, a life that demands explanation!
Last week I moved out of my
apartment, the one I have lived in for 7 ½ years. For a girl who likes things
to be constant, this was a big change. We finished cleaning everything, turned
the walls back to a boring white and turned in our keys. 6600 is no longer my “home.” The life I have been preparing for
begins now. Not only did I move out of my apartment, I bought my ticket to
Africa and gave my two weeks notice all within 48 hour. It was a lot of change
for just a few short hours, but it is all good change, changes that I have been
preparing for and waiting for. The season of waiting is over and it is now time
to walk forward on this journey. I know that there will be more changes ahead
of me, but I’m taking this one step at a time, taking deep breaths and
surrendering all I have to God, which is not always easy.
I have consistently heard the
question of are you nervous, scared…. Yes, but No. I’m leaving everything I
know and walking forward into something that I don’t know yet. However, this is
the next step for me to take. So I am going to keep my eyes on the Savior and
start walking on the water. I am living a life that requires explanation!
For those of you who are wondering. My last day at
Cheesecake Factory is April 9, 2010. I drive from Birmingham to Florida April
19. I fly to Africa on April 26.
As I prepare to go serve, I am still believing for my full
support for the two years I have committed to. I will be fasting and praying
for three day April 9-11 and would love for you to join me in seeking the Lord.
